Colleges Survey - February 2008
Of those who responded:
- Almost three-quarters of the households with children 11 years or older have a child who plans to attend college in the next five years.
- About two-thirds of the parents are encouraging their child to attend a Christian or Bible college.
- Affordability, career preparation, campus safety, and academic reputation are the top four most important characteristics to the parents in the child deciding which college to attend.
Death Penalty Survey - January 2008
Of those who responded:
- Two-thirds are in favor of the death penalty for those convicted of murder.
- Top three reasons explaining why those favor the death penalty are as follows:
- It is Biblical teaching.
- It is a deterrent to future crimes.
- Because justice required it.
- One-quarter oppose the death penalty for those convicted of murder.
- Top three reasons explaining why those oppose the death penalty are as follows:
- Innocent people are sometimes executed.
- Our legal system makes too many mistakes to allow it to condemn people to death.
- I favor life in prison to the death penalty.
Nicene Creed Survey - October 2007
Of those who responded:
- Reflecting on the teachings in the Nicene Creed, the top statement, by 40% of respondents, as the most neglected but should be taught more often is "He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end."
- The top statement, by 49% of respondents, that is confusing and needs more clarification is "We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church."
- Between two and three in ten report each of the following statements as the most meaningful right now in the journey of the faith:
- For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
- We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
- We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
- He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
- We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
- On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
- For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
- We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
